I stood. He felt guilty of our prior relationship and hoped I didn’t
think him a cad. I assured him I didn’t. He said this was our time and
he wanted to start anew. He said it was fine if I wanted to continue
seeing Kate. He got me home early and actually asked if he could kiss
me. I told him that I didn’t want to break up with my boyfriend abruptly
so he’d have to tolerate me dating another guy for a while. He agreed
to my terms and for a time I had another boyfriend and a girlfriend with
Tom’s acquiescence. But that kept me too busy. I broke off with Bill,
and Kate and I ceased our lovemaking. I missed her dearly but remained
true to Tom. Soon after, Tom proposed marriage and I tearfully accepted.
I wasn’t ready for such a commitment but if you’re lucky enough to get a
guy like Tom, you don’t let him go. We had a short engagement. Kate was
my bridesmaid. I’m happy now.
